[40d] Vermin does not spawn (Reclaimed Fortress)

I started a fortress, chasm, magma pipe and all... Then I realized I messed up my starting dwarf builds. So I thought I could just abandon and reclaim (initially I didn't want to reclaim and just start over fresh but the region's been saved).

All the wild animals, magma men, imps and all simply disappeared. No biggie, it'd have been more or less the same if I poach everything into extinction in a few seasons. But I'm pretty annoyed that no vermins would appear, and hence no fish or cave spiders (tested by having a ranger do nothing but capture live animals without getting anything). I already checked the bug report list and found some other problems related to reclaiming fortress but nothing specifically about vermins so I thought I should report this.

Played without mods, though I did use reveal.

You realize, of course, that when you Reclaim, you have no control over your starting dwarves skills?

Yeah, but I wanted the site very much. Besides, when I said I screwed up the starting build, I meant that I left 6 out of my 7 dwarfs without any skills at all.
