Games simillar to Molehill empire.
« on: January 08, 2009, 04:29:32 pm »

http://www.molehillempire.com/

A rather fun game. I like it. I like the basic economy and the huge reserve of morons playing it. Means I can thrive.

But I'm looking for more. I want a game with a real supply and demand economy. I want it to be free. I want it to not be browser based if possible. I want it to be a game where I can produce and sell my produce. Doesn't have to be farming.

From another thread, I get harvest moon is a farming game that's rather fun. But I'm looking for free stuff. Kind of cash strapped at the moment.

A Space sim game that calculates supply/demand and you can even make your own space stations. not free though
Harvest moon/Rune factory sure dont have any supply/demand but is still funny, get an emulator and download it.

Utopia is kinda fun... :P I know a lot of economical games (I was searching A LOT for city building games before finding DF) but I forgot most of them. I'll try to find them and link them. Only problem is that most of them are text-based. Ick.

I'd only want to play the moles to plot the downfall of the Molehill village gnomes. :)

Browser-based text-based engines are here to stay, sadly. They're easy to code, and easy to modify, allowing the creation of many awesome worlds and universes just by modifying a couple sentences in the source code. I know this because I have a Utopia-style game engine that I'm trying to set up on a server.

IIRC Utopia isn't free. You still need real money to play it. The game is free, the fun isn't. I heard you could either slave for high level characters or risk your life aggroing mobs or even distracting them to earn a bit of money. You can start from there. Utopia sounds like my kind of game, but I'd like something else right now.

Sounds like you're thinking of entropia. Utopia is a webbased strategy game that bored me fast.

Ah. It appears you are right. I was thinking about Entropia Universe. By the developers of Uplink. A great game on it's own right. They also made Multiwinia. correct?

Anyway, I'll take a look at Utopia.

Entropia Universe is by MindArk. you can tell, BTW. Introvesion (the guys who made Uplink) has not released a game that wasn't pure genius to date (with the exception of DefCon, which is diluted genius, or something... still very cool though.)
