Hi,

I have made a fort on say level 1, everythings mined out, now on part of a hallway floor directly above it is a black area, unmined but I can see it has some coal, anyway I want to from level 1 in my fort get to level 2 , so I do b C then choose stairs, it builds the stairs but I still cant get UP one level .

I will attempt to draw.......

BU = Black unimined
* = rock edges which I dont want to mine into but want to dig UP and go up via a stair from my fort main level
# = Fort walls created when initially mined out
S = 1 tile wide stairway

Thanks again

You have to designate a downward staircase to be carved out from the tile 1 z-level above the upward staircase you built.

Alternately: The Brick Testament. It's a really fun look at what the bible would look like if interpreted literally. With Legos.
Just so I remember

This worked a treat and in hindsight it makes alot of sense, since I was trying to actually build a stairway on a non dug out area
