If you click on Finland, it shows you a chart that seems to suggest that shortly into the fourth quarter of 2007, all of Finland simultaneously searched for Dwarf Fortress.

EDIT: Just what happened in the fall of 2007? TO THE DEVLOG!

Isn't that around the time PCGamer had an article on it?

More likely it's coinciding with the release of the first 3D version, as that massive spike is the day after that.

regardless, the slime shooter will be completed, come hell or high water, which are both entirely plausible setbacks at this point.

Actually, I think I know the answer to this. For a while I used some proxies, they worked good but had one rather glaring downside. Whenever I went to Google, I was using Finland's Google server.

Haha. Turns out I live in the DF Capital of the world.  ;D

I'm surprised of the lack of Finns reporting in. Maybe everyone else are playing DF instead of talking about it.

But it's quite big over here, once someone I didn't know at all interrupted a conversation I was having with a friend of mine just to know if we were talking about Dwarf Fortress.

Also, on another occasion, I went to see Dark Knight with two of my friends and four others I barely knew. When we were eating, someone said something about DF and it turned out that everyone had played it or at least knew it (and everyone got into it from different sources, except my friends that I enlightened myself).

That's insane.  I mention dwarf and/or fortress here, all I get is "What?"
I've taken it upon myself to enlighten people.  So far, it's not going well.
