It doesn't matter. The name bloodstone conjures up an image of a red stone, which is all that ascii graphics are attempting to emulate. Humans don't look like giant capital U's in real life, either.

LOL.  Although some humans look like a capital O.  Some ladies could look like a capital P.  

As for the subject at hand; as long as I can play it, I could care less what the color is.  I know that realism is a big thing in DF, but at certain times you need to decide on game or real life.
