Currently:

ESC -> Scroll to Save Game -> Enter -> Y

Wait for Save Successful

SPACE

Wait for Title Screen

Scroll to Exit -> Enter

DONE!

... Thus, a Save & Exit option would be sweet, just choose Save & Exit, Y to overwrite and all done.  Waiting twice for two seperate inputs would be eliminated.

select save, before it is finished saving press ENTER, UP, ENTER.
The keys will be queued and the game will quit by itself. Means you don't have to wait around for the menu to appear.

not everyone knows this though, so a more direct and obvious "Save + Exit" is still useful.

I wouldn't mind having an additional 'Save and Continue' feature, as well.  I tend to save every couple of months in game so I don't lose my progress, and it's a bit frustrating to have to wait for the menu to load before I can scroll down to whichever game I happen to be running at the time.

Save and Continue would require more work -- when you reload the game after saving, those files are subject to alteration.  The only way to backup your saves is to copy the data/save folder immediately after saving.  If you do it some time after saving and continuing to play, the save is possibly corrupt by the in-play changes.
