They already do this.  It's just that the ice skates themselves are abstracted.  :D

Having more dwarf recreation would definitely be fun -- especially if you could set it as a job mode.  ;) Y'know, give a dwarf a mandated vacation -- "alright, Ulrik Bashingheads! You're going to go drink the best ale you can find, and keep drinking 'til things look good."

I can see it in the baron demanding that 30 dwarves "have fun" then going crazy because they are not having fun yet

Heh, reminds me of the paper RPG Paranoia.

"The Computer has mandated that this dorm throw a party.  Here are your paper hats.  Start having fun, right now, or we will shoot you."

Remember, happiness is manditory.  If you aren't happy, you are committing treason, and the hammerer will be dispatched.

Assume the party escort submission position, or you will miss the party.

This is a fox skull helmet. All craftsdwarfship is of the highest quality. It menaces with spikes of fox bone and is encircled with bands of fox leather. This item is haunted by the ghost of Alfador Angrorung the fox.

"Happyness officer, why didn't you keep your fellow troubleshooters happy?"

OH gods Jim can run a good Paranoia game.  I was the only one to complete my secret objective (I had a tape of Victorian music and I was supposed to get it played in the compute and then get rid of it and blame the posession on someone else) and I totally palmed it off on the records keeper of the group (she didn't keep notes so I said, "here I did it" and handed her the tape, Jim cracked up).
