Obsidian cannot be made flammable using the temperature entries from Bituminous Coal.

 I thought all walls were impervious to damage? And that the whole coal vein burning thing was removed in the 3D version?

If anyone can confirm that coal still burns, then it's a matter of stone layers not accepting anything beyond the placement tags, [VALUE], [LAVA] and [SHARP]. However, since [VALUE] is a tag used in both the mineral and layer files, it probably does carry over.

Coal walls never burned, The lumps of coal left on the ground after you mine it will burn however, which is where the whole burning coal walls myth came from I think.
