Does anybody know a way to move individual stones that are in the way of stock piles for instance... for the sake of solidarity?! What about moving vast areas of stone?

^^^ To clarify, that's for large areas.  And for individual stones, 'k' over the stone and press d (you might need to highlight the right item in the k menu first)

Thanks, I suppose its working. It just takes quite long.

You could also undesignate the stockpile temporarily, and build the stone into floors on the ground where it is at.

Or designate a stone stockpile somewhere else. I prefer the Quantum Dump method myself (the d b d selection).
