Stained Glass
For decoration purposes, now that glass appears to be enabled, what about having a dwarf specialize in creating stained glass works. Then, to accompany the statues and engravings in treasure hordes, there can also be stained glass representations, like those in ancient medieval cathedrals of dwarves striking down elves and demons.

Regular Windows
I'm not that great a DF player so perhaps this is redundant, but it doesn't seem like Dwarves can create windows. Would it not be useful to have a glass window from a bedroom so dwarves can look out on an arena below and watch the matches from the safety of their beds?

Ah, thanks for the link and explanation.

But can windows currently look down? That is, can you place a window to overlook an arena at a tilted 45 degree angle? Or could you build a window in the floor of a room so that a particularly evil mayor can see the suffering creatures trapped in cells below?

Sightlines for seeing things die is pretty loose. If you think it'll work, it'll probably work.

Really? They could look onto an arena that's on a different Z level?

Level 1-----ROOM1
Level 2---------ARENAARENAARENAARENA
Level 3-----ROOM2

Room 1 has a window that looks down on the open pit arena
Room 2 has a glass window that is actually the floor of part of the arena. ...which might be foolish because a competitor could escape by smashing the glass and escaping into the room. But would be an interesting feature.

They can see, but there's no guarantee they'll look.

You can't make a window in the floor per se, but you can construct a section of floor out of glass.
I think ALL floor sections can be seen through currently, regardless of material..

They pass light through; that's not the same as being seen through.

It would be nice to just be able to make different colors of glass than just green and clear.
