So, how do you train exotic creatures?
« on: December 04, 2008, 01:45:55 pm »

So i got a dungeon master in my current fortress (by far my most sucessful one), and i thought o hey, now i can train all those fire imps! hurray~, but, put simply, how the hell to i train any animal that isn't a dog? Like, the ones with the exotic pet template?

I'm just that willing to build a pit linked to a pacman style room and fill it with some megabeasts and let goblins have fun with it.

Oooo rite, i don't need to train the beast to make them hunt goblins down, but it would be nice to get them to stop breaking my doors down.

You can tame exotic creatures, but you can't train them. Only dogs are trainable in vanilla. Also, you can't tame intelligent creatures, such as ogres or various -men. Also also, tamed creatures are considerably less violent than their wild counterparts.

I don't think you can tame fire imps without editing the raws... Would have been fun though.

They are usefull for the noble incinerator though ^^

Friendly building destroyers break their own buildings just the same. Get rid of the bastards if that's an issue

However, having creatures like those is definitely a bad idea...things can catch on fire you know.  ;D

You can train any creature that is a pet w/o intelligence tag by adding [trAINABLE] to their creature entry in the raws.
This doesn't require genning a new world and a creature trained for war is just as aggressive as a wild creature, they also deal double damage.
