Announcements are indeed saved, and into the save folder itself, not just the gamelog.  Seems a bit inefficient to me, but it could very well be that all the other stuff saved makes a few hundred lines of text insignificant size-wise.

I said the dumb "pics or it didn't happen" because I pretty much run a non-stop butchering problem and never noticed that.

My guess is that it was a season change, and during that wounds tend to heal.

The season part seems reasonable, but will a dwarf let a goblin run away bleeding?
