Strategies?
« on: November 29, 2008, 09:00:28 pm »

Well, I used to be able to get a liberal country no problem in the last few versions, but i'm having troubles with this one. So, anyone out there have any particular strategies they like?

Also, I can never seem to turn people fast enough to become sleepers, except a lucky few, so, any interrogating techniques?

Edit: Ugh, well, to be more specific. People wise I think i'm okay. I have 6 beastly fighters, with good gear and what not. A bunch of moneymakers, it's just EVERYONE is conservative, I can't seem to turn the country. Maybe I don't have enough graphitti people, what? Help me out here.

Number one: You need to knock out the CCS. They are very adept at making the country conservative once they are active.

Number two: AM radio and Cable News need to be constantly shut down, preferably whilst giving the best hour of news and radio ever.

Number three: To convert, crush their spirit with total deprivation for several days then bring in mister nice guy to finish up with straight up conversion.

Actually, unbroken sleepers are the bee's knees. Go recruit a likely sort (or seduce 'em), and turn them sleeper. Get them up to 50 juice by promoting liberalism, have them recruit another sleeper (or three if they've leadership), rinse, repeat. This works best if you can get them to do the recruiting when at Arch-Conservative infiltration.

I played a recent game where conservatism was ground to a standstill by my lonely non-criminal founder (who never did more than write to the newspaper), and the massive 30-50 sleeper network put together by his initial liberal judge. Sure, half the issues were conservative or arch-conservative, 3/4s of the presidents were conservative (with the rest liberal), 7/8ths of the Congress were C or worse... we had liberal elite free speech, privacy, gay rights, and flag burning!

(After years of utter gridlock, I got bored with my experiment and disbanded in '42. Without micromanagement to recharge my sleepers' credibility, failure was inevitable. Still, they didn't manage to hunt us all down until '65...)

The total deprivation thing works pretty well, i'll start working on turning the country though. Thanks.

Feel free to continue posting strategies in this thread though.

Does anyone have any strategies for finding the new hidden CCS members? Just seduce random people?

Edit: You can identify them through their skills.

Blizzard is managed by dark sorcerers, and probably have enough money to bail-out the federal government.

You shouldn't get into fights at the bar, it's just a place to pick people up mostly.

The Desert Eagle Bar and Grill? Where you have to get into fights and kill lots of people to steal it from the CCS?

The bar and grill isn't the cigar bar. The cigar bar is easy to kill stuff in.

Hit 'em quickly enough after they appear and they aren't armed all that well.  Also, fight like a coward, kill the poorly armed and small groups because you want a high body count, not to kill tough enemies.  Against big, well armed groups, run away and come back another day because some of your liberals probably just got wounded or killed.  Stay close to the exit of course.  Levels aren't as important as they were so you can't send out an uber squad and expect to trash everyone.  On the other hand it's now viable to send out fresh meat with relavent skills, because they have a decent chance of routing the CSS or at least gaining some juice for round 2.
