Q
then move the cursor onto the stockpile of choice and hit S
then scroll down to REFUSe and hit -> change Item Types to only allow bones, and change corpses and body parts to only allow dragon.
there you go.

Nope, still doesn't work!!

I have a stockpile set only to accept Dragon bones and a few other semi/megabeast bones, yet there are metric crap tons of cat bones and dog bones being brought to it constantly. I am *CERTAIN* that cat and dog corpses AND body parts are not allowed because I just checked on both of them two seconds ago.

To my knowledge, you cannot specify what type of bones go into a refuse stockpile.

As far as I know, you cant really specify most things that goes into -any- stockpile.

On a side note; Being able to add bins to refuse stockpiles would be nice <.< >.>

dump them in the place you want to(in a lookble room i suppose, then you have them separated, like there are not so much dragon bones (i hope for you) so you can do that and it is easyer then trying with the refuse menue ...

The problem might be you've converted a old refuse pile, and you don't have enough room or even have other refuse piles that takes bone in general, you probably have to go to the stockpile setting, and disallow everything other than megabeasts in the body parts and corpses ( using enter, I found out after trying to hit other keys few times  ;D ) and have other refuse pile take from it, with megabeast disallowed on that pile.

what I do for specialised stockpiles is to set it using the custom stockpile options to set it to only what I want and set it so it takes from the general stockpile for its category like dragon bones would be taken from the refuse stockpile etc. As for your problem, if the custom setting of your stockpile doesn't work try and make a new one and set this one accordingly. It could be preset hauling jobs or a number of factors messing up your other stockpile.

Wolfking was right: "body parts" in a refuse stockpile refers to severed limbs of the creature in question - so a severed wolf front leg would land in a refuse stockpile that allowes 'wolf body parts'.

I haven't found any way to tell a stockpile to accept only Turtle Shell, and another only Lobster Shell; or to only accept bone stacks of a certain size, or to only accept specific kinds of bone.

As far as I know, to make your bonecrafter use a specific kind of bone or shell, you'll have to forbid all other ones. (Easy to say, harder to do. I wanted a Hydra bone greaves last game, but would up with yet another turtle bone greaves and a large stack of Hydra bolts ... )

Idea: build a 4x3 room with a door, build a craftdwarves workshop in the room and place a dump zone next to it. Right away dump every valuable bone you have, so they get in that room. Micromanage so that when you want something built from a specific type of bone, claim the type in question and lock the bone carver in the room. It's quite long and requires a bit of micromanagement, but you normally don't use valuable bones too much (mainly because there's not exactly plenty of them).

Easier than forbidding everything.

mass forbiding a stockpile really is faster then digging up a room as far as i'm concerned

Airlock doors system would work, too. That way, you can imprison the craftsdwarf, too. And that can be quite handy and/or funny. Forbidding the refuse stockpile is quite fast, but you have to do it every time.
It's your choice, really, but there a quite a few different methods.

By mass-forbidding, you can only have one bone-related activity at a time, and you have no control over who uses your oh-so-valuable bones (unless you do a lot of macromanagement).

I only use valuable bones for my artifacts, though, so I do mass-forbid bones when i need some.
