Meteoric Iron
« on: November 26, 2008, 06:59:30 am »

Just a sharp iron ore I modded in. If anyone wants it, feel free to copy it into your games.

You can make short swords from it without smelting, but this is mostly for novelty value, as it will deal less damage(Meteoric iron short sword simply sounds cooler than iron short sword).

Meteoric iron ore should produce at least a bit of nickel, if you're using pure elements.

Also, this post has a meteoric iron alloy.

Having a Meteoric Iron ALLOY is silly. Meteoric Iron is iron found where a meteor crashed, it's not something you smelt.

Really adding this would require a new terrain-feature along the lines of bottomless pits/etc. where you have a crater with a meteor in the center - varying in size from a wagon-sized chunk in a small hole to a major-river-width meteor with a surrounding crater and a world history entry.

Having a Meteoric Iron ALLOY is silly. Meteoric Iron is iron found where a meteor crashed, it's not something you smelt.

And it is found mixed with 4% to 20% of nickel.

Uh, what?
Stone short swords, last I heard, were hardcoded to be as good (if not better?) as steel ones.

Ok setting reality aside, meteoric iron in fantasy has always been stronger than steel and has ALWAYS been an alloy, as far as I know, because you only find a few ounces of the meteoric metal (aka star metal).
