So two things just happened:  I just got my bookkeeper to attain Low precision, and the merchants just left.  I pop open the stocks window, and... nothing is highlighted.  Where 'meat' is normally lit up?  Nothing is lit up.  Exiting out of the stocks window and going back in, it's back to normal and working fine.  Didn't think to move 'up' or 'down' but tab didn't do anything.  No idea what caused it, can't reproduce it, not really important, guess I'll go sit in the back yard and eat worms.

Yeah, I dunno.  Hopefully it'll come up again in some sensible way or never come up again for anybody or something.
