Tougher goblins/GCS-as-goblins does not solve the problem of the sieges not coming in the first place.

I've only seen 3 sieges tops.

My current fortress hasn't seen a goblin for four years.

build more wealth, or settle by a goblin fort next time

once the war arc starts, it should be possible to bring war _to the goblins_ so it won't be nearly the same problem

a game mode/setting for "goblin schedualed sieges" would be pretty badass though

I was disappointed in my current fort.

My armorer gets posessed and crafts three bars of aluminum and some silk into an exorbitantly expensive artifact aluminum high boot... and then I realize there are no goblin civs nearby to bother sieging.

In fact, the only civ I've had contact with in two years is the dwarven one, and they don't have much in the way of supplies.

im bout 6 years in, not a single siege, one ambush and some snatchers stole 2 babies, and kobold.... thats all i got, every civ can get to me and no sieges.... my fort is worht 1.7 mil☼ idk why i havnt got a siege.....makes me sad, my marksdwarves only get to shoot stone targets and captured critters.

Wealth doesn't seem to effect it. I've had tiny copper pits sieged and big wealthy duchies ignored.

It seems to me, Goblins dont know what the fuck they are doing....

Gobbo : "Oi, Snot face, lets go smash that worthless wagon wit all six-'undred ov us"
Gobbo Lynn: "Heh, ya, seems like we could git some good lootz...."

EPIC FAIL BY GOBLINS

For the particular fortress that prompted me to make this topic, I was sieged three times in the first six years.  My population reached 80 around year 4, and I got three sieges very quickly, two even in the one year.  My fortress wealth was a about two million for the first siege, and about three million by the last one, and it was great.  I really enjoy sieges and elaborate fortifications and military preparations and the like.

I pushed on with wealth generation and by year eight my wealth is about twelve million, my population is about 215 and I'm nearly out of non-renewable resources other than stone (2x2 map for framerate reasons).  I thought that goblins kept coming based on wealth and how many of them you killed, but that would seem to no longer be the case.  At the very least we should change the wiki.

If this is a side effect of Toady's new world-gen-wars and squad-commander-history-tracking code, we should ask whether it's a stop-gap measure (until better civ military is implemented), a feature (there really only can be as many sieges as the goblin population supports) or a bug (sieges are stopping when they run out of commanders and that's not supposed to happen).

I think you can increase goblin power by turning off "Multiple Litter Rare" on them, and increasing their size. I'm trying it out, and while I can't be sure yet, I think with them repeatedly giving birth to goblins that are born children and turn into adults at age 1 and have goblin litters of 1~5 (and are as big as cows) it should be tougher.

Of course, I did mod dwarves to be the same size as humans so I could use their equipment... heh. Heh heh.

Same thing seems to have happened to my current fortress. I had a few goblin sieges led by a local elf leader who my dwarves killed in his third or fourth siege. And since he was killed sieges have become smaller and increasingly rare.

Could be worse.  I had a fort in an older version where in my first, and only, goblin was the civ leader acomin' a snatchin'.  Found him one day in a cage trap by my walls, and never saw another goblin.  Since then I have been more careful about trapping wildlife.

Once I put up my pyramid on that map there was no reason to stick around.
