Another impressive Dwarven Paradrop
« on: November 13, 2008, 06:27:43 pm »

(Taken just after embark, just long enough for all the dwarves to move)

The wagon was completely destroyed. it's not there. the only wood I have is the stuff I brought. I'm personally taking this as proof of the "paradrop wagon" theory

of all th-- I have to wonder if they AIMED for the peak.

Magically retarded.

Dwarves today... what's next, fire spirit kings.

Thats just awesome. You should build a tower around that spot to commemorate the event.

Didn't you know?  It's dwarven tradition to conquer the peak with their wagon before they can settle there.

My most recent fort had the same issue.  No wagon, all the supplies on one tile.

I built an inverted pyramid over the site (each z-level of the tower being 3 tiles wider than the one below it), and dug out a pyramid below.

Unfortunately, within about four minutes of starting to dig out the area, I found the chasm, and a giant cave swallow flew out and proceeded to go to town on my very vulnerable dwarves.

I might reclaim. oh GOD I have giant cave swallows.

(better than the other GCS though)

I had one of those. Something about having no wood and no axe kinda sucked...

Thankfully I mined out the magma and was able to forge myself one!

Yah, it sounds like minecraft with content, you have obviously missed the point, people dont like content, they like different coloured blocks.
Seems to work fine with my copy. As soon as I loaded the human caravan came by and the world burst into fire.

I have this all the time, i suspect my dwarves aim for the 1 tile peaks at embark.

The same thing happened to me. My current fortress is on a mountain. The expedition landed on an area pretty far from the chasm, but it was right on a slope so they had no wagon and their stuff was spread over 2 z-levels. Fortunately, this version has ramps all over the mountains, so this wasn't a big problem.
In the absence of a wagon, I'll build a monument there one day.

My current fortress started with a wagon on the very edge of a magma tube...it took me two reclaims to get the dwarves indoors before the fire imps noticed they were there.
