Finally, a topic that relates to a similar hobby that I go into in my spare time, by accident or otherwise. Well, except for the LHC topic, but oh well, that's a more specific topic. And no, I'm not saying I have any degrees in science or anything, all I have is a high grade in high school AP physics and biology, as well as chemistry, but sadly there is no AP course for that where I am. But anyways, yes, many a time I'll ponder on how the universe works, and such and such, although, from my perspective, there could be near-infinite amounts of knowledge to gain, and there may always be a place seemingly impossible to even think on. I like to think of it as we are in a "box," in the center of this box is yet another box, which could go on infinitely with more and more boxes. If you are outside the box, you can see inside, as well as inside all boxes within that, and these boxes understand parts of science which you can understand. However, the "box" which we are present in is also inside another box, which may have infinite numbers of other boxes all contained within each successive box. If you are inside a box, you can see outside it, but only through one box. Thus, we can perceive our physics, all baser things, and one level above, which is where we speculate, but for all we known there may be yet another variable constantly changing and editing such factors in that one box we speculate in, but without being able to perceive any realms beyond one above that which we already claim to understand, we can never truly know what is going on...
Or perhaps it is more like the ten dimensions video (can't seem to access it from the site anymore... try youtube perhaps), where the first dimension is a line, and each successive dimension becomes a line with a branch, a branched line folded inwards, and back to a line again, up to 10. Thus, it is shown as a line, a plane, our three dimensional perception, time, all possibilities of time, the replacing of events of time between each other, our "big bang" and all associated properties invested within the very beginning, all possible "big bangs," the replacement of such properties between the others, and then the tenth dimension, however (at least from the video on chapter one) there seems to be no where else to go from there, thus the tenth dimension only seems to be a point, perhaps it is the source of chance and such.
Bit more than I wanted to say, but oh well. On that last note, how many people here actually feel that chance exists? I mean, if every single atom's trajectory was mapped out (assuming it was possible to do such, without such an event altering them before they were mapped out), along with its rotation and such, and all collision variables were known, would it not be possible to predict the exact events that could take place? Although very unlikely, taking one breath a bit differently than normal just might alter the path of atoms enough to completely and utterly change history forever. A single movement could cause, in the future, atoms to collide that normally would not, reactions would occur that might not have normally taken place, and from that it may only cascade from a small reaction to, who knows, a person suddenly deciding to pick a different number in the lottery, based on a "random" whim resulting from the cascade, suddenly causing them to win a huge jackpot. Pretty much has the lowest of "odds," if you could call them that, possible, but still something I like to think about
