It's an engraving?  What are you waiting for - knock it down.

Technically, it's a floor, so it can't be knocked down.

The proper response is to pave it.

The dwarfy response is an over-engineered method used to flood the room with magma. Duh.

Assign the artist to stand atop it, then drop a giant obsidian fist cast from the blood of the earth onto the entire section of the fortress.

It's what the hammerer would want.

I have nothing personal against elves
Something is wrong here.
To be perfectly honest, they are a little creepy, but otherwise tolerable.
I do have a personal vendetta against them in adventure mode.
Oh, okay then.  You are now cleared for entering the DF forum.

Alternately: The Brick Testament. It's a really fun look at what the bible would look like if interpreted literally. With Legos.
Just so I remember

You're just lucky the engraving wasn't R-rated.

Who's to say it wasn't? You should expand your concepts of what "embracing" could mean!
Uh, actual, embrace is defined as:
1.  To clasp or hold close with the arms, usually as an expression of affection.
2.
a. To surround; enclose: We allowed the warm water to embrace us.
b. To twine around: a trellis that was embraced by vines.
3. To include as part of something broader. See Synonyms at include.
4. To take up willingly or eagerly: embrace a social cause.
5. To avail oneself of: "I only regret, in my chilled age, certain occasions and possibilities I didn't embrace" Henry James.
v.intr.
To join in an embrace.
n.
1. An act of holding close with the arms, usually as an expression of affection; a hug.
2. An enclosure or encirclement: caught in the jungle's embrace.
3. Eager acceptance: your embrace of Catholicism.

You should take words as what they mean, not what they "could" mean if you have a dirty mind.
I won't even get into how adding "if you know what I mean" to any statement can make it sound dirty...
Crap, I just did.
Oh well.
