Pressurizing magma?

So i got an nice idea for a magma trap but wanted to make sure if it would work before trying it.
The idea is to let magma spew up out of multiple Floor hatches and thus incinerate the unlucky on the road.
Would the magma get pressurized if i use pumps to fill a cistern that leads to the channel providing hurtfull fluids for the intended holes?

The only way to pressurize magma is with screw pumps. Essentially, you need to use screw pumps to move the magma from the cistern if you want it to be useful.

Pumps can raise magma to their level. So if you set it up where the are the pump output goes is a channel that goes underneath your floor, when you turn the pump on the magma would rise through the _____  grates

edit:  I haven't personally tested this.  I have just read this is what magma does in previous discussions on pressurizing magma.

Yes, screw pumps pressurize magma to their level, so your trap could be:

Where sP is the screw pump, ~ is your source, and _ are your hatches (or whatnot).

Also, you can manufacture vomit at a smelter.  Subsequently removing the smelter spews vomit over a surprising area.

So let's say i've got a 25x3 large tunnel under the road, Hatches every 4th center tile connected to a lever.
By constructing a few pumps on the same level as the road and filling the channel, when the lever is pulled the Hatches are opened and the pressureized magma comes up through them.
Idea viable then i guess, time to go scorching some annoyances

I'd use the lever on a gear assembly next to your pump battery.  That way you can use metal grates instead of using lots of magma safe mechanisms, and don't have to worry about a tantrum permanently flooding your entrance since you won't be keeping presurized magma at all times.

Sure it saves materials, but its actually less safe and by using Hatches i get instant combustion from all holes rater lava pouring from them

Actually Ivefan, pumps don't actually pressurize anything to the point where it would flow upwards.  They will make liquids flow more quickly, but that's it.

The pump would bring the magma up to that space covered by floor hatches there. It's dropping them into magma, but more classy. The only thing I can see with it is to make the hatch controlling the drain to be seperate from the one controlling the inflow hatches.

Make a water cannon, and feed it lava, instead of water.

Well, he said he wanted magma to come up through hatches, so I thought he meant pressurized in the sense of water coming up a shaft that was dug to lead to the bottom of a lake, or flooding a fortress when you try to make a well reservoir at a z-level below the river that feeds it.

Exactly like that. I wanted to do it unnecessarily advanced(how dwarvenly) rather than just simply droping lava on them.
I know water would have worked but knowing magma acts differently i wanted to know if pumps made magma work like water in the sense of trying to create an equlibirium and thus flood up through the Hatches to try to even the fluid levels in the corridor and the cistern
