Disabling Mining Messages

I want to disable messages and pauses related to the discovery of NEW MINERALS / GEMS / ROCKS.  To be clear, I do NOT want to disable messages related to damp or hot rock, so using the Just Dig It! mod is not an appropriate suggestion unless the description of that mod is incorrect.

Any idea on how to disable these messages / pauses?

Last I checked, Dtil had some way of telling DF to mark the veins as discovered. I've never used it so I can't say how it works, or even if it does work.
