Mid life crisis

I know most of you will flame me for this but hear me out. I am serious.

Urist McWhatever cancels fell tree: Mid Life Crisis

It could be rare but add an extra challenge to all fortresses when your legendary miner decides to change careers.

EDIT: Identity crisis as well!

oh, and existential angst although that may be going too far.

Your forgetting Identity Crisis.

Nope, this ain't my room. This room belongs to Urist. I'm Kogan. THAT is my room. What? Some chap named Kogan owns it? No, I'M Kogan! Let go of me! Is that a jail?! NOOOOOO!

Perhaps during a mid-life crisis the dwarf would be inclined to not to a specific job, like woodcutting. They would do it if left alonge for a while, but they would prefer not and get a minor negative thought. Doing their second-highest job would give them a positive thought. Unless that profession is a social skill.

Kogan: Screw it! I don't want to be a miner, I want to be a Liar!

I would bet money Andrew has edited things retroactively, except I can't prove anything because it was edited retroactively.

Somehow, that fills me more with dread than anticipation.  It's like being told that someone's exhuming your favorite grandparent and they're going to try to make her into a cyborg stripper.

Kogan: Well, boss, I'd like to go and dig out that copper in Tunnel 5, but... [long-winded and intricate story].

I doubt the nobles would take well to mid-life crises.
We'd be even worse.
Player: YOU ARE OLD! YOU MUST DIE.
Puts me in mind of that film where they kill all the "old" people.

mid life crisis??  :o
This is Dwarf Fortress! So in short, no I definitely don't like this suggestion. Nothing personal but I find something like this ludicrous in a DF setting.  :)

*ahem* Perpetual motion machines. Boatmurdered. People punched by kids then exploding. Nist Akath when the captain is hit in the gut with an arrow and bruised.

And it's a DF midlife crisis. Urist McGeneric cancels fell tree: Mid life crisis
Urist McGeneric has become a recruit
Urist McSparring Has been struck down
An Ambush! curse them!
3 seconds later Urist McGeneric has slaughtered them all save one
Urist McGeneric has been struck down

Crazy shit makes up DF. let it influence this too

Odd how "Experiment" in DF is often synonymous with "Raging inferno of death and dispair"
