Mod in those Crazy Goblins from the modding forum, then draft all your dwarves in a futile attempt to survive.
Also, I curse you for assisting my brain in comming up with the idea for my fort wich has taken forever to make but now i've finally produced a map for the community to view.

Your excavation method is better than mine.

And flooding an existing hole was easier than biulding actually in the pipe, overall your tower is more impressive (due to materials and size). Well done good sir!

Well, the magma pipe was on the edge of the map and i wanted some space around the tower though i dont think it would have mattered much in my case as i plugged the volcano when excavating it.
But did you check the goblin mod?

This thread is so dwarfcore it hurts my nonexistent beard. Hishan, Ivefan, how long did that take IRL? A week, five hours a day? When did you plan? Did you draw it out on grid paper or transparencies beforehand? It's stunning.

It takes a dwarf to use magma for snow shoveling

If it's feasible, maybe pump water through to offset the heat?

Hmmm.... Your tower menaces with spikes.  But it needs something else.

I know! It must be encircled with bands of tower cap!  And hanging rings of rope weed, the rope weed has wrongdoing dwarves hanging from it.

About a month, of an hour a day, but by the end I just left the game running and went to do something else my FPS was that bad. The tower was finished up  to the top of the pipe by mid 3rd year, and completely done by the 5th year. I had some other projects to do and stopped playing about the 10 year mark. I've still got the fort, I havent abandoned.
