Yeah, I too coddle my moody dwarves, corraling them toward ever greater... barrels... 

*sigh*

I don't do the save scumming part though.  I figure making sure my dwarves use the best materials is a sound management move, whereas resetting reality is a bit much.  My only complaint is that nobody wears the blasted crown my gem-cutter made.  It just sits in my stock pile...  such a shame.
