Idea, requires clarification

Alright, so I have an idea for a community fortress, but first, I need to know one thing. What is the most recent version that allowed you to stick an infinite amount of skills onto one dwarf?

If you dont intend to cheat and got the patience to actually teach the dwarf everything you should be able to do it in 40d

He/she's referring to the "Carefully prepare for the journey" menu while embarking. In the old days, you weren't limited to ten starting skill boosts per dwarf.

Sadly, I don't know the answer to that.

regardless, the slime shooter will be completed, come hell or high water, which are both entirely plausible setbacks at this point.

The last time i remember it working was in 2D.

Check my join date. That's been there as long as I've been playing, so it must be a version before that.  ;)

That's exactly what I meant. So, anyone else know?

I'd suggest using the last version for which tweak worked, and editing skills using tweak. (That hasn't been updated lately, has it? I gave up on checking for updates on that and went back to playing with just seven starting dwarves.)

I don't think you can edit skills with tweak. Just starting dwarves and starting points.

Use a memory editor to find the "10 - 9 - 8" ecetera variable, and lock it so that every time it changes, the memory editor sets it back. Then you can put as many as you want. (You may also want to lock the overall points, if you're a cheating bastich like me.)

Tweak works for me in 40d.  Just needed to find the right config files -- got them from the forum.  Searching should dig it up, or I can post 'em.

Also, you can manufacture vomit at a smelter.  Subsequently removing the smelter spews vomit over a surprising area.

Posting would be preferable. I could do it with ArtMoney, but it and DF don't really play all that nice together.

OH! Please post it!
I'm not very patient when it comes to searching and that would be really useful!

10,000 Platinum nuggets, 10,000 stones of hematite, about twenty wagons, and one ungodly dwarf later, I must say that this is a resounding success.
