The world gen thread!
« on: September 24, 2008, 04:38:56 pm »

This is the thread to show off how awesome your computer is!
Post how long it takes your computer to generate a new world.

Mine can do it in 30 sec exactly!  :D

It'd be cool if unicorn refuse gives off rainbow miasma.
It should totally bleed the laughter of children, too.

Oh shrugs..theres a similar thread already made by Bien.  ::)
Besides, if you want to compare computers, everyone should use the same datas to create the world. [SEED etc.]

yeah, i can create a pocket world in a lot less than 30 seconds.  but a large world with several dozzen discards?  a history of more than 300 years?  those take much longer.  especially the long histories.

Small world with no rivers, only enough space for one town of each civ, small in size and no requirements for rejection can generate blazingly fast.

Now a medium world with a ton of rivers, several hundred towns and wars everywhere would take a while, on the verge of crashing from how much is being generated.

Buck up friendo, we're all on the level here.
I would bet money Andrew has edited things retroactively, except I can't prove anything because it was edited retroactively.

I'm not entirely sure. My favorite setting, the largest, probably doesn't take more than 15, maybe 20 minutes.

Oddly enough, due to the extra races I put in, the pocket worlds get so many rejects (not infinite, but a lot) that the small and smaller world sizes actually seem to generate slightly faster than the pocket worlds. >_>

The World Without Knifebear — A much safer world indeed.
regardless, the slime shooter will be completed, come hell or high water, which are both entirely plausible setbacks at this point.
