Suped up Goblins = Extra Fun
« on: September 28, 2008, 10:40:52 am »

A sixth year fort me and a mate have been sharing went up in smoke when I decided to upgrade the Goblin's to 'Doombringer' level.
Heres an annotated map of the aftermath: http://mkv25.net/dfma/poi-7504

Better Goblins mod is here: http://www.bay12games.com/forum/index.php?topic=18805.0

I don't think I've ever actually seen a map of a fortress where goblins had invaded, before. Wow. A slaughter. I'm probably going to add that mod into my DF game... it seems like a lot of Fun. Goblins that can shoot fireballs... hm.

The Epicness of the battle must have been amazing, I feel for your loss, but you should reclaim it and show the goblins who's boss. A True Dwarf never backs down, unless there is booze waiting for him somewhere.... then maybe...

Military dorfs are the busiest if their partner is also in the military, Military children are my forts future, also its hilariously tragic when a mother carrying her child into battle gets hit, and the baby dies....
I fixed that up for you.

Nice fortress. What was your military like at the time of the slaughter?

Also, I admire your decision to only use three cage traps at the entrance.

I can attest that champions routinely choose booze over battle, sometimes quitting the battle halfway in order to maintain their drunkenness.

Is there anyone who doesn't?

Rather than having them directly force you to mine adamantine, I would suggest that they give you strange moods that require adamantine. "Dig out the adamantine or Urist here goes insane and dies" is suitably vicious.

(It occurs to me that you can probably get "Lovecraft" as the random name of your fortress. That's when you know you're screwed.)

The millitary had 16 Champions Cross Trained in Wrestleing and Hammerusing, 4 Elite Wrestlers with some Hammer Skill, 14 Wrestlers with some Hammer Skill, 2 Hammerdwarves, 1 Champion marksdwarf, 6 elite Marksdwarves. All with full iron plate and shields.

And the cage traps are only so I can create a few Arena matches every now and then.
