[40d] pocket worlds rejects caused by not enough space
« on: October 30, 2008, 06:21:08 am »

I don't know if this is a bug, but if you make a pocket world in vanilla DF sometimes the world generator won't find enough space to put in a dwarven civilization, making up to 2000+ rejects.
Also the "unable to place controllable civilization" message will pop up several times.

For example [SEED:421760947] makes 1159 rejects.

Probably not a bug.  You can tweak world gen params to prevent this, either by turning off "Playable Civilization Required" or increasing the number of mountainous squares or something.

Yeah, I thought that too, but since it happened in vanilla game I reported it.
On an unrelated note Toady's last post page looks buggy.

I noticed that too.  It's probably the code tag.
