A disturbance in the For(ce)tress
« on: September 11, 2008, 10:13:59 am »

So I am trying to download DF because I have heard nothing but good things about it (bar 2 1 star reviews on CNet, but they were griping about the graphics). However, I have a slight problem, no matter where I download DF from or what version I get an error when I try to open the zip archive that it is corrupt or incomplete.

Also, I could only download the game from mirror number 3, as 1, 2, and 4 all fired up my universities filter/firewall saying those mirrors wanted to tag me with a Trojan. I'm not quite sure why, but I think that SonicWall (the filter/firewall my university uses) might be destroying parts of DF as it downloads to my computer because it thinks its a trojan (odd, I think).

So can anyone help? If someone might be able to unzip the archive and email it to me, or host it up on mediafire I might be able to successfully get it working.

Thanks in advance

DF is indeed a trojan. It invades your brain and makes you talk like this:

USB Drive + Public Library (or other alternate internet access) = Profit

The download is pretty small, you could manage it on a dialup in reasonably short order.

It's funny yanlin but everyone I know IRL that plays this game talks that way. We also say things like LOL, IRL, IMO, and the like in verbal speech. Clearly the internet itself corrupts, not just DF.

No, I'm pretty sure that it is DF. I finally realized it right about the same time that I realized that DF ate my soul. If you can see the humor in a picture of a little blue g surrounded by uppercase white G's, you know that you have been playing for way too long.

I used to draw portraits of people when I was bored.

Now I just draw a smiley face.
