There was a goblin siege, so I raised my drawbridge and began organising my defenses. But while I was waiting for my siege operator to get ready, I saw "A thief has stolen (Iron bolts [32])!"

I wondered how they had managed to steal them since, even if they had came before I raised the drawbridge, they would have to have gotten past several cage traps and 3 war dogs (And anyone entering the fort must be adjacent to a war dog at at least one point).

Then I had a thought. There was one goblin crossbowman in the siege, so I looked in his quiver, and it was empty. That thief made this siege a lot easier for me

The Kobolds are thieves, they steal anything of value within their reach.  Also The Kobolds are not allied with the Goblins. Who would want to be a Kobold's friends anyway?

But the bolts were in this goblin's quiver, and this was in the middle of 12 goblins. Surely ONE of the goblins would have realised...

Come to think of it, you may be on to something.

I remember that there had been complaints previously about siegers or ambushers revealing thieves... I did not really follow the situation back then, but if that got altered, maybe this has resulted in improved stealth around goblins.

However, also note that the theft notice is given once the thief has successfully left the map. So, when the thief actually stole the bolts, the goblin need not have been close to his comrades - not that it matters much, as usually the goblin himself should have spotted the kobold thief.

I just thought of something else. I never had any successful kobold thieves (too many cats); does the announcement give the name of the thief? If so, have you thought about checking whether it is one of the historic characters listed in the 'c'iv list under the kobold heading. My point is, maybe this was a masterthief who gets special treatment (just like master goblin thieves alledgedly being able to get past traps).

Just a few thoughts people can ponder, I can guess :) :) :)

I had rhesus macaques steal all the arrows from an invisible (ambushing) elven siege once without revealing them.

I though it was funny, and was going to report the bug but I forgot.

 But this happened to me once. Rhesus macaque's do odd things to the elven caravan.

 Elf: Egads! Goblins! Fire your arrows brothers!
 Elf2: Hold on a second... where did our arrows go?
 Goblin: Lookit, monkies with arrers!

 Hilarity happens later. I wonder if the monkies used the arrows as improvised weapons...

You mean that's a bug?! I thought Kobolds could stealthy rip off your leg and arm to pay for the rising gas prices. They really do cost an arm and a leg these days.
