Petrified Humans (not as cool as it sounds)
« on: September 04, 2008, 09:27:59 am »

Hey, I figure this has come up before, but maybe not and I couldn't think of a good search label to give it so:
I've created a new fort with a human town directly in it's centre, just for something different, only all the humans just stand around, day after day, starring as the sun...well, not the last bit, but yeah, is this a bug/known dealie?

Yeah, known. My current fortress is in a similar position, and the humans act exactly as you describe them. They will do certain things, though; when ambushes/kobolds come, the humans will pounce and tear them limb-from-limb. Also, they'll randomly attack wild animals.

I just shrug and loot their shops for weapons, myself.

That was the same decision I made!  =->  Plus, I've knocked down their keep and temple, just to shake the history up a little.

Urist McMindcontroler cancels Control Human Minds:  No non-zombie humans left.

No humans, you are the demons!

So, uh, yeah.  Do humans normally mill about their business?  I've never settled in a human town and I'm too lazy to do so now.

Same thing happened to me in goblin villages (they were friendly. BTW, are they supposed to have demons running free? A figure of speech, the demon stood still too), the Mountainhomes (Embark Anywhere) and human and elven towns. Really wierd.

Personally, I can't wait for doctors to get possessed and start surgically attaching axes to champion soldier's arms.
And neither can I...

Probably bug / or "not yet implemented content" [IE: "living" AI controlled settlements, even tho Ive never ever played Adventure mode, so I dont know that theres any life in the AI settlements or not  ;D].

Yeah, villagers will go about various business in Adventure mode, but their AI is turned off for Fortress Mode.  Really, that's for the best. Can you imagine the pathfinding debacle?  And how would it distinguish between the food the humans should eat and your food?  At its worst, it would be a nightmare.  At its best, it would be like starting with 30 or more workers.

And yes, it is normal for one demon to be present in a goblin tower, unless it died in worldgen (Or by adventurer).  It's both their ruler and their object of worship.

That's a good point, plus, I couldn't knock down everything in site without someone getting mad.  =->

I just channel underneath them and drop them into the aquifer.
