Amusing glitch with modded dogs
« on: August 27, 2008, 08:03:13 pm »

So I modded dogs to be able to inject poisons on bite.  Worked great on those pesky thieves that kept showing up.  However, for some reason as soon as the dungeon master showed up all the dwarves got bugged.  The only option any dwarf had at this point was the slaughter them.  So I figured why not, the game was hosed anyway.   As I side note, I did find out that butchers are able to slaughter themselves.

Seems a bit much...

Urist: But I don't want to do this.

DM: KILL YOURSELF!!!

Urist: Ok

Urist has died.

(or something along those lines.)

Funny that dwarves will willingly slaughter themselves.

Very funny that they will dress the meat and prepare the hide for tanning.

When dwarves commit ritual suicide, they really go the whole nine yards, eh?

I've seen this problem before, and it is really simple to fix, assuming that is the same thing.  In your brutal merciless code slashing, did you happen to add PET_EXOTIC to your dwarves?  If so, it treats them like livestock once the Dungeon Master arrives because he activates the pet status of those exotic creatures that you own.

Man, reminds me of that cheating client that let you designate nobles for slaughter. Handy, isn't it?

And thus did the dream of dwarven antigravity fade away, not with a massive explosion or a flood of magma, but with a whimper.

I didn't have the exotic pet option added in.  I am guessing that it does have something to do with it though.  I was wondering if there was something that existed hard coded, in regards to the exotic flag and the poison flag however.
