Multiplayer Dwarf Fortress.
« on: August 27, 2008, 10:35:56 pm »

Before anyone says anything, that this idea is more of a fantasy of mine.  Not something I'm requesting or demanding.

Not on the same map, but two simultaneous Dwarf Fortresses Independent from each other with their own unique maps.  However, whenever a player wants to he can send an armed force to attack the enemy fortress, at which point the units leave by reaching the edge of his fortress area and reappear on the other players area edge as hostile.  Players can also send thieves and tamed animals to attack the enemy.

I don't really want my fortress destroyed by some berk in full adamantine and his champion army cirque Nist Akath (except they had no adamantine)

just my thoughts and i don't mean to be rude.

Too bad its virtually impossible to make it fair.

Unless you had one of those really boring "peristent" games (that are always online), but those always turn out terrible.

Hm....interesting idea..but I suppose you meant that the player who sent his army to attack the other player's fortress should be able to control his soldiers? I dont know that how would that work, because of the pausing for example..not to mention that it would require multiplayer coding also of course. Sadly DF isnt a perfect game for multiplayer.

I've seen this exact form of multiplayer before.  Please search the forums.  It's in there with "sending caravans to each other."
