Food Troubles
« on: August 17, 2006, 09:20:00 am »

For some reason, after the first bunch of migrants arrive, all my dwarves stop eating completely. They eat before the migrants arrive at the carefully planned tables with chairs. There's tons of food in barrels but they won't touch it, except when I tell them to make a meal.
And when they start making a meal, they drag half the food to the kitchen, half make the meal and then stop because they're hunting vermin for food. And then they drag all the food back again.
What am I doing wrong?

What kind of food is it? They won't eat unprepared fish and probably raw meat.

Fair enough. I had a theory that if they ate prepared meals, they'd never again eat un-prepared meals, so I studiously avoided preparing anything  ;).
I'll try and remember that in future.
Is there any way to get them to just cook the meat? I've had kitchens, but all they seem to prepare is biscuits which are 4 parts raw fish.

You need a Fishery to prepare fish.  Once that's done, it's ready to eat; it doesn't have to be cooked or anything.
