one day for my predicted date and 59 things left to do  :(. Come on you can do it Toady !!!  :p

Joking, no pressure. I'm sure it will be out before Halloween.

Also, By the time DNF is out the current version of DF will include dwarven-built rock computers that play fully functional DFs inside. Entire fortresses will collapse in neglect because dwarves won't stop playing the miniature versions of themselves.

56 things total on the list.

of course, each item will take a different amount of time to complete. some may be five minutes, some may be five days.

thats being said, he still has  13 days left. so thats an average of 4.5 things a day - and we've not had "todays" changes. - as of typing, its 1:20pm here, and today normally posts his dev changes between 10:30-11:00am, so hes definatly pulling some late nighters the last few days.

so any totally insane bugs he can put down to sleep deprivation.

October 31st.

Why? It gives him the most time to work on anything else the current testers throw at him and smooth out all the bugs still on the list while at the same time keeping to the "promise" laid out in the October Bay 12 report.

Why not October 32nd then?  ;)

It may be released in October. Maybe. Maybe not. I just hope that after it's released, Toady will never make us wait for a new version this long again. I'd rather have a plethora of unstable inbetween versions to chew on, than wait for one polished one.

I actually like this release schedule, if only for the simple fact that I dont have to update constantly, or forgoing that, pick the correct time to update so I don't download a version with too many game crippling bugs. Also, it was difficult  to keep up with what was new with what version etc. Now we all know the jist of what we are getting with this version, and alot of stuff that might be a surprise too. Also, its a whole new game, with wholly new challenges. I like that.

After the Z release (besides bugfix post-releases), I will probably wait a couple months before I download again.

Yay, you uses the name I came up with!   :)

Regarding releases, i think there should be 2 kinds, minor- and major releases, just displayed at a different color on the downloads page.
Minor releases being every working compile once a week, major being like this Z-release, stable and polished releases coming about once a year. Or maybe something else, it's up to Toady.

Edit: typo; wrote 3 instead of 2.

well since everyone is ignoring the original poster's game and turned it into a real 'guess the release' thread, I'll gaze into my magic 8-ball and get the answer....

"Concentrate and ask again"

bah!

Actually, I'll guess October 27th. there are 31 notes left and he seem to be pounding out around 5 - 10 a day, so give it 7 as an average. That's 5 days to finish the tasks, which leaves him 2 days to finish the zlib thing (from what I understand it's not a big task) handle any last minute things, get it zipped up and hosted.

unless he decided to delay it till Halloween day for some reason, of course.
