I don't experience the after-image when I tab the Mini-Map and the commands menu out, leaving just the play screen. It'd be nice to see this fixed, but I have all the menu keys memorized, so it doesn't bug me much.

I also had the phantom X's, but only when the minimap was open.  I rarely if ever use it, so I'm not bothered.

Same for me.

The ghost trails only appear in dark regions (i.e. regions which havenīt been dug and also have no dug designation) nowhere else

There are some problems I'm having. I'll describe them, don't know if it helps.

1) I get the screen flickering. But it's weird. When I ran the new version the for the first time (with eve online in the back, tabbing in and out, maybe that has something to do with it) it ran fine. Second time, with no other app in the back, the flickering began. Alt tabbing can also cause it, after I "cured" it. I cure it, mainly with changing screen refresh rate (or resolution) to a different value and back, and then it works fine, when I alt tab back in.

2) I disabled triple buffering to test if it does anything. It seems it worked, and the flickering is gone now.

3) Don't know if it's been mentioned already or if it means anything, it's probably just stems from how this way of drawing the frame works: when I start a game for instance, from the main menu, theres a lot of black space involved, because, well, there is just some text on the screen. In that environment its easy-ish to spot: The black squares used to paint over the old frame actually have a color, like a very dark grey or a bright black. You know what I mean?

4) no designation cursor trails for me, it's fine here.

Yellow 'X' trails for me. Only when there's no minimap (which I try and keep open so I can keep an eye out for migrating herds of animals, trying to find one of my custom mobs eventually). And the little %'s and 's and whatevers that are scattered around the dark don't have the problem. It's definitely just the blank spaces.

I have no idea whats wrong, this happens also ingame, keeps flickering... Very annoying. Everything else that's displaying seems to be fine.

Oddly it started artifact with overlapped images of a game I had played the night before. The computer had been shut off between the two instances too... strange.

This has only happened to me when i upgraded to 40a, i tried to disable Triple Buffering but it didin't do anything. I tried play with the default screen resolution and it did work fine actually, problem is it's hard to play on a small screen  ::)
