Dwarf Fortress: Mountains of Madness
« on: August 22, 2008, 12:27:09 pm »

Those of you familiar with H.P. Lovecraft will no doubt have clicked on the bastardized title of this post anticipating something slimy and tentacled -- Fine sir, I do not intend to disappoint.

Dwarf Fortress: Mountains of Madness is a collaborative mod between Luxus and I where we will (actually already have) add a number of body types, entities, creatures, materials and reactions inspired by the Lovecraftian universe and the DND 3.5 'aberration' subculture, and also include content from our telnet driven RPG relating to the mythos.  This includes adding a number of ENTITY groups based around human cultures twisted by ancient alien intelligences, such as the Sumerians, Scythians, Etrurians and pre-dynastic Chinese.

While we would encourage contributions and involvement from the DF modding community, we're really just putting this up here so interested folks will have a place to look for mod release and a place to share conceptual opinions about what they might like to see in the mod.

Standard question: Modbase? ;)

I hope I'll finally get the TC filters working in the next release...

On the mod itself, I never read or saw anything of Lovecraft, but I eagerly anticipate any new additions on the modding front. :) Keep it up.

Quite frankly I have not yet had a chance to peek at how to make my changes modbase compliant.  We've both just started modding in the last few days.

I am extremly intrestead in all things mythos based. I have read lot's of Lovecraft works lead the rpg countless times and played the campaign beyond the mountins of madness. I still prefer the pure rules of call of cthulhu, not d20 based. But is there anything I can help with let me know.

Don't forget the shogoths.
