Color Tokens?
« on: August 17, 2008, 10:42:15 pm »

http://www.dwarffortresswiki.net/index.php/Color

It mentions a ton of different tokens as well. Like vermilion and cerulean for example. Are these only for dyes? Because that would be a limiting usage for them. So is it possible to use these as colors for creatures and minerals and such?

It's planned, but not implemented, as far as I know.

Those are used for dyes and "likes color ..." only.
Other color settings are still very simple and I don't think that this is a primary goal.

Toady has indicated (on the forums, I think?) that he wants to let creatures, at least, use more colours than the sixteen currently available. He's not said anything about when this will happen, but it'll probably come with the appearance variables (beards, etc.) in the dev_next.

Actually, on looking at that again to verify, 1) it specifically mentions colour, and 2) it's the top thing in that section. So that could actually happen as soon as the next release.

Sweet! Thanks, I had read all of the Dev Next, but never made that connection.
