[39e] Infinite cash cheat
« on: August 11, 2008, 05:43:22 pm »

You're gonna love me for this one.

Adventure mode.
Step one:  Remove all metal items and other valuables, and put them inside container.
Step two:  Sell container for significant moolah.
Step three:  Pick up each item from inside of container, leaving container on floor.
Step four:  Purchase container for insignificant moolah.
Go to step one.

I like to buy a second backpack so that I can easily put the items away as I pick them up from the floor.  Just makes things easier.

What's happening here is that although the container switches ownership, the items inside do not.  The container still has its value increased by the items inside it, and it still carries the items with it, it's just that the game thinks you're only selling the container.

This works wonders with a quiver full of expensive metal bolts.

But money is only good for ammunition in adventure mode, so I'd rather have the bolts =)

Bah!

I simply pick up the nearest weapon and huck it at the shopkeeper before picking up all the weapons and getting out of the town before the guards arrive.

Hey, it serves the same purpose, and you get some interesting side-effects if you do it enough to a single civ. As in, "Human Sieges" interesting.

But yes, this is a debilitating bug that can be abused by those who prefer to live for more an a few hours.

I'm more on the "smack shopkeeper into wall" side of the fence here, but this is good to know.

I noticed that every time I sell stuff to a shop keeper in this same version I get some variation of 133 coins in a pile, plus a single one in another; ie. 133 + 1 silver or gold or what have you.

Don't shopkeepers only have limited gold anyways? (At least, per visit to a town)

At least that's the way I remember it from before, they had about 6000 gold.

9000.  But that's still 9000 per shopkeeper.  That's a pretty insane amount of cash right there.

Okay, so it's technically not "infinite"...  But it sounds better than "more cash than you could ever need, want, or use cheat".

And even after you've taken all their money, you can still use the trick to trade raw goods.
