I've started on a major river crossing, and here's what I got:
The river is running through a gorge, and even though the road edges are at the same height, the bridge is built IN the river. Yes. There are walls and a floor in the river. And yes, it is a giant dam.

Yeah, there are quite a few problems with bridge placement at this point.  I have some saves and seed info, so hopefully I can work these out over time.
