modding in an elf liason
« on: September 02, 2008, 12:35:26 pm »

Is it possible to mod the elves to send a liason (preferably without breaking anything important or stopping the other races from sending one) or is that hardcoded?

Should be something like [DIPLOMAT], methinks.

I believe it and [trEE_CAP_DIPLOMACY], which is what they've got now, are mutually exclusive, however.
Anyone care to test it?  I don't ever use the elven caravans (they usually get their defenseless selves slaughtered by ambushers)

Thanks for the replies, I'll test it when I get some more free time. I suppose this will likely get rid of the tree cap thing, but I rarely get a fort that large anyway so no big loss.

Getting a little sick of trading for large rope reed thongs and ashen bows instead of grizzly bears and giant tigers, in case anyone is wondering why I'd want an elven liaison heh heh.

[DIPLOMAT] just makes them send a diplomat that says how nice the fort is, I believe.

What you want is [MERCHANT_NOBILITY]. That will give them a merchant baron, prince, guild representative, etc.

I believe the liason is hardcoded to whichever race you're playing as. For instance, when I switched to playing humans as a test I was getting BOTH the liason and the guild representative, while the dwarves didn't have either. Swapping [MERCHANT_NOBILITY] made it so the humans had liason and dwarves had the nobility while playing as humans.

Well I tested it out and [MERCHANT_NOBILITY] worked perfect - elves sent a liaison who worked just like the human one, and as far as I can tell it didn't break or change anything else.

Thanks again for the info!
