[39f] Up/down staircases not revealing tiles above and below themselves

I have several dug X (up/down) staircases... They make up the spine of my storehouse towers... They, however, occasionally choose not to reveal the tile on the z level above them. Similarly the sometimes chose not to reveal the tile on the z level below them. It's a small one, but an odd one...

They never reveal the layer above.  Up stairs don't either.  The only thing that will is a ramp.

I did a lot of down layer prospecting in .39f by both up/down and down staircases (aquifers). For me they always revealed below tiles and never - above. I think this is a normal planned behaviour.

Do you have a save ready with up/down staircase and the tile below it not revealed? Even better would probably be a save with several staircases designated to be dug and at least 1 of them reliably not revealing appropriate tile when dug.

Not really. :P See, up/down staircases always revealed the above and below tile for me. Either that, or I'm just crazy. >.>
