So the dwarves think they own this forest retreat, but there are still elves living in it, and they won't go down without a fight. (Not that it matters, the dwarves are massacreing them)

Yea I've been in a human town that was an elf city waaaaay long ago, but there were two still left, who attacked me in the streets.

I think Toady just fixed this for the next version. Apparently those 'wars' are due to refugee groups from worldgen being dumped in the nearest settlement, even hostile settlements. He's preserved them as wandering groups into regular game now.

Here's something weird that happened to me.

This one forest retreat was taken over by a human civ and they had only one human family living there with a mother and her three daughters.  I started an adventurer and he started in this retreat as a member of that site's human government.  There were some elf children around that talked to me and told me about how humans slaughtered their families.

Then I got that guy killed and created a new guy who started in a different human town.  I went to the retreat but as soon as I got there the elf children went nuts and charged me.  Oddly this caused the human children to become hostile to the elf children, and kill them.  Thus died the last of the elves, apparently.

I've seen weirder. I've played in a medium sized world where humans had been wiped out! There was only one human kingdom that was wiped out by the elves. One of the towns though was still a +. After searching it. I found one resident, an elf child. Humans slaughtered his parents, and the rest of his family was busy killing humans. Interesting world, it was.
