DF crash on start

When the game start I see a black screen for a second and hear some music, then it crash.

I tried to run it in compatibility mode, I changed various settings in the init file, disabled UAC, updated video drivers, tried older version(38c) and still nothing. Even tried to disable DEP http://www.bay12games.com/forum/index.php?topic=9985.msg98058#msg98058.

Everything is smooth on my computer, it's pretty much the first game that crash since I installed vista a few months ago.

Vista 64
Ati 4850
Core duo

Anyone got an idea?

Use XP

If you can find it.  M$ost should not be charging their beta-testers.

For the record it's a problem with the latest ati drivers. A simple roll back fixed my problem.
