Sorry if this has already been pointed out, but it does bug me a little...

migrant = someone who travels to do a job, & then goes back home after the job is done

immigrant = someone who moves in & makes their home in a new place

emigrant = someone who moves away & makes their home somewhere else

So the dwarves who move into your fortress aren't "migrants" they're "immigrants"... unless of course they go back home after the harvest is done.

okay, English class is over, you can go back to whatever you were doing.

Of course, viewed from the perspective of the mountainhomes, they are emigrants.

Also all forts either die off or are abandoned, so they are conceivably migrants, depending on the breadth of your definition for 'job'.
