Care and feeding for your new pet Zombie Elephant.
« on: August 19, 2006, 10:04:00 pm »

So, a zombie elephant charged into my fortress only to run into a cage trap. Now the damn thing's sitting in my animal holding area. Does anyone know what zombie elephants eat (besides dwarves) so I can get it trained up?

You caught one?

You could conquer a city with that thing.

Is it even possible to train undead?  I don't see why it would be.  Even if you feed them tasty, tasty brains while they're in the cage, they're still going to attack you when you let them out.

Maybe if you had access to magic or mysticism...  some sort of ancient Dwarven scriptures or runes or a Dwarven priest or somesuch...

I suppose I could put it on a restraint and just tie him up by the river where all the snake, lizard and frogmen keep coming from.  :D

I wasn't aware we could train captured creatures at all. I made an attraction of a giant toad I captured, but I didn't see any options for taming or feeding it so it eventually just withered away.

You need to build a kennel. There's options there for taming.

You can always sell cages with stuff in it. I'd like to see dwarves selling one of their own.  :D

How do you actually sell something in a cage?  I've tried moving the cage containing the creature in it to the trade depot, but that just released it.

I suspect you can only sell trained animals, but I haven't really tried.  Maybe he got released because he wasn't trained.
