Change your dwarves to [CHILD:1] and get rid of the baby and multiple litter rare tags, then you'll have insane breeding machines. Who needs immigrants when you can double your fort's size via breeding in a year.

Recruit all the newly formed peasants into an army and soon you can take over the world... or at least the 4x4 area you embarked on. World domination will have to wait until the army arc is finished.

That actually sounds fun.

It would mean an actual sustainable fortress!

With inbreeding!

Fortresses are sustainable without modifying anything, they're just long-term endeavors :)

You just have to maintain the fort for 10 years and keep all the children/babies alive and well, and then you'll start getting a constant influx of new workers every year or so as children grow up and babies turn into children to replace them. Soon you'll have a practically never ending work force growing up every year, and every one of them will be badass due to the ridiculous stat gains from conversation skills. You can even train them in farming if you lock all the children in an area with a farmer and have them harvest for him. Using that I once locked 10 children into a room with a farmer, having him plant away and them harvest, and soon I had 10 legendary farmer children.
