can i save my save?

hello i would like to save my save file so that when im using a diffrent file my old file will be at my descktop or somewhere and when i put it into the place where it beloncs i can continue without losing the game or my fortress?

That last gobbo would stand there, missing an arm, punctured in a kidney, liver, and spleen, fading in and out of consciousness at the far end of where the drawbridge would go, and his last sight would be the drawbridge dropping down and smashing him like a bug.

You can.  Just copy the folder for the region in which you are playing ("region1" directory, for instance), someplace else.  You can find it in the data/save directory.

You can just generate a new world. If you want the same world, Copy-paste your region1 folder to a new place, abandon the fort, then do whatever. When you want the old fort back, just throw the folder back in.
