Author Topic: [39e] Stockpiles can only have one other stockpile [t]aking from them  (Read 908 times)

I've got one large refuse pile outside, and two smaller ones inside, one each for bones and shells.  When I try to make the smaller ones [t]ake from the larger outside one, only the most recent link is kept - the other one disappears.

Edit: Also seems to be happening for some food stockpiles - I built two small food and drink stockpiles near the barracks, taking from my main food stockpile, and again only one of them could be taking from the same stockpile.

This has been the case since the 3D version came out, possibly in the 2D as well, I don't remember.  I imagine Toady will do something about it eventually.

If software was real world, then it'd be something equivalent of hitting a nail with a hammer and having a building collapse on the other side of town.

Don't worry people, sometimes -moments occur

What I did for example for the alcohol stockpiles for jail cells, is have one main stockpile taking from the main, and have each other pulling from the one in front of it, like a long train.

sure it takes a long time to set up, but they all get filled out just the same.

Well, I'll be darned.  I could have sworn I had done this in the last version, but just went back and checked now and got the same behaviour.  I guess this is the first time I ever bothered to double-check that things were being set up as I expected. :)

Wow, I had no idea about this. It means many of my plans to promote efficiency in the fortress will never have worked. And I haven't noticed, which is a bit embarrassing. :)

I didn't know that. Wow. I could have sworn I had done that before. ^.^;;

I'll have to be more creative in the future. This explains why some of my stockpiles mysteriously had their 'take' settings changed.

Well I guess I can make a sort of take tree... Each taking from the last one from the source. ^.^;;
